On August 18th, China Economic Information Service, China Information Industry Association and China Academy of Urban Planning and Design jointly released the Report on Digital Governance in Chinese Cities of 2020, which was the first time that domestic research institutions had investigated the level of urban development from the perspective of digital governance index. According to the Report, Hangzhou took the first place in terms of the digital governance index, surpassing the major four cities of China, i.e. Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Xi 'an and other central and western cities have achieved great-leap-forward development and become the first-tier cities in digital governance.
